Barrel | 32, 36, 40 and 45 caliber
Green Mountain Barrel Company Bored Barrels. 32, 36, 40 (all have 1/48 twist) and 45 caliber (1/70 twist) available. The breech plug comes fit and installed. Dovetails are cut and the surface is finely milled as seen in photos (but will need to be draw filed to attain finished surface).

Lock | Jim Kibler Ketland flintlock
Ketland style import lock from the 1800-1810 time frame. 4.75" x .920" behind fence Works well for pistols, or any post-1800 longrifles. Flint Size - 3/4" by 7/8" These locks are different than all other modern production locks. Instead of using investment castings all critical parts are machined. This results in a product that is far more precise and repeatable when compared to current available locks. I would estimate the tolerances with machining are an order of magnitude (10X) better than that available with investment casting. The lock represents $200 of the $1075 kit price.

Touch Hole Liner | White Lightning
It's drilled and tapped for the touch hole liner, and it comes with a White Lightning liner. These work well and provide for really fast ignition. They are available in stainless or carbon steel. If stainless steel touch hole liner is chosen, it will come with the touch hole liner installed while the carbon steel will be included in the parts bag. The stainless last longer but do not color or patina like carbon steel. Stainless is standard, but if you would like carbon, please make a note when you order. There is no price difference. |

A lot of care has gone into the design and there are very close tolerances in production. It was custom made for this Southern Mountain Rifle Kit by Jim and is a traditional mountain rifle design. 
All inletting is precise and complete on each stock

All parts are very closely inlet. Very little work will be needed to fit the parts. The surfaces are pretty close to final form as well. Stock | Walnut, Cherry, or Maple with Upgrades Available
Standard grade maple stocks will have some figure, good hardness and reasonable grain flow. Walnut stocks will be selected for hardness, color and grain flow. A $125 and $250 stock wood upgrade is available for fancy and extra fancy maple. Due to increasing costs, the walnut is a $125 charge. Please contact us for price and availability of fancy walnut or cherry. Customer Supplied Stock | deduct $60 from $1075 kit price
If a customer desires to supply his or her own stock blank, they may do so. I would need a blank at least 61" long and 2" thick and 7" wide.
